At AEF, we work with you to design strategic pathways and technical solutions to a zero carbon future across regions, in communities and for organisations.
We bring together our unique mix of extensive on the ground experience, research skills, networks and technical expertise to deliver exceptional outcomes.
Some of our Strategy & Design Projects
Moreland Zero Carbon Evolution
We led the development of Moreland’s Zero Carbon Evolution in 2014 on behalf of Moreland City Council and the even more ambitious Moreland Zero Carbon 2040 Framework that was adopted by the council in 2018.
SA & Tandem Energy Feasibility Study
We partnered with Tandem Energy in South Australia to explore the feasibility of local governments in the Resilient Hills and Coasts region establishing their own Community Energy Retailer.
Zero Net Energy Town
On behalf of the NSW Government we led a consortium to develop a business case and blueprint for a Zero Net Energy Town (ZNET) in the town of Uralla, in rural NSW. We have since partnered with Renew to deliver a ZNET strategy for Hepburn Shire.
For 20 years we have been exploring new ways to deliver programs, services and technologies in partnership with all levels of government, businesses, community organisations and research institutions. We are deeply involved in innovation across our sector – from co design through to delivery and evaluation and reporting.
Some of our Pilots & Trials
Victorian Healthy Homes
We are leading the delivery of the major research program – Victorian Healthy Homes on behalf of Sustainability Victoria. The research, led by the University of Technology Sydney, will measure whether the improved warmth leads to better health and wellbeing outcomes for people with chronic health problems.
Solar for Renters
We are currently working with the New South Wales government to pilot their Solar for Renters program in Parramatta and participating in the co-design process to roll the program out to approximately 3000 households across the state.
Residential Efficiency Scorecards
We have worked with the Victorian Government over the past three years to pilot the Residential Efficiency Scorecard (RES) in more than 500 homes across Victoria, we are now delivering the RES as a regular service through our Positive Charge program.
We work hard to drive large scale change in communities. Our programs are designed to give individuals, organisations and governments the information, advice, products and services they need to confidently take action towards a zero carbon future.
Some of our Program Implementation work
We deliver Positive Charge, providing trustworthy, up-to-date, energy saving advice. We also link households and organisations with carefully selected suppliers to ensure they can access high quality products and services at a great price from a company we can trust.
We also deliver the Positive Charge program under different brands on behalf of our partners. For example under Our Energy Future in New South Wales and the Powered by Positive program for the Surf Coast Shire Council in Victoria.
Under the EnergySmart Public Housing Project on behalf of the Victorian Government, we are managing the delivery of energy efficiency upgrades to 1500 public housing properties across the state.
We take great pride empowering communities to take action. On the ground, face to face, online and over the phone engagement with the community is a critical element to the way we work and key to our success. Our Energy Advice Centre takes hundreds of phone calls a week, we deliver information sessions on a broad range of energy topics in libraries, town halls, senior citizens centres across Australia and we work with very specific communities around particular needs.
Some of our Community Engagement work
Bright Actions Program
On behalf of the Queensland Council of Social Services (QCOSS) we delivered the Bright Actions program. We trained people from a refugee background to deliver workshops and home assessments in their community, delivering workshops to more than 4,000 people and assessments in 3,000 homes.
Solar Partnering Around Regional Communities
In partnership with Ovida, Allume Energy and RMIT we are leading the engagement of the local business community for the Solar Partnering Around Regional Communities (SPARC) project which will deliver 7.5MW of solar PV and 1.5MWh of battery storage across 75 local businesses.
Power Saving Bonus Program
Under the Victorian Government’s Power Saving Bonus program we have delivered face to face sessions for hundreds of vulnerable, digitally excluded Victorians to help them understand their bills, compare retail offers and to make sure they are getting the best deal.
