The Victorian Government has made saving on your energy bill a lot easier, with the Energy Compare website. Energy Compare allows you to easily find the best energy plan for your needs, and the best part is – they pay you to use it!

The Victorian Government’s $50 Power Saving Bonus payment is available until 30 June 2019. To claim your bonus go to the Energy Compare website and follow the website prompts until you get to the Compare Offers screen, where you will see a button on the right hand side, to submit your Power Saving Bonus. Check our easy-to-use guide on how to use the site if you have any problems.

A better deal

You don’t need to change your provider to claim the bonus but you just might find a better deal, that will save you a lot more than $50 per year on you bills.

Even if you don’t find a better deal you still get $50 for looking. For most people you can get $50 and a better energy deal. Once you know what the best deal is, you can negotiate with your existing company (you might be surprised at how much they’ll give to keep you as a customer), or change to a better one.

Cheque’s in the mail

You need an energy bill handy to fill out a few boxes but you don’t need to provide your banking details, so no worries about them being hacked. You will receive a cheque (for the young people that’s a piece of paper that you can swap for money at the bank) in the mail once the application is processed.

Eligibility

Every Victorian household can submit a claim for the Power Saving Bonus. To confirm your eligibility, you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • You must have a residential electricity bill and be the account holder for that bill
  • You must be able to receive your bonus payment via mail at the address of your energy service.

If you don’t have an electricity service, you can still claim the $50 Bonus with a gas bill.

Don’t forget to check back with Victorian Energy Compare regularly (we suggest at least every couple of years), to make sure you’re getting the best deal all year round.

Now spend that $50 wisely; with cheap power comes great responsibility!
